Instructions for Temporary Visitor Driver Licenses (TVDL


  1.  Eligibility Requirement: Make sure you are eligible to apply for a TVDL. To be eligible, you must be a non-U.S. citizen who is authorized to be in the United States for a short period of time and does not have a Social Security Number.
  2. Documentation: Bring acceptable documentation that proves name, date of birth, Illinois residency and verification of written signature. For students, bring your I-20 as proof of residency.
  3. Guidebook: Study the Illinois Rules of the Road to ensure you are prepared for the written and road tests. The booklet is provided free by the Secretary of State's office.
  4. Application Process: Schedule an appointment at a Secretary of State facility to submit your TVDL application. You can make an appointment online or by calling the Secretary of State's office.
  5. Test: Pay the appropriate fee and successfully complete a vision screening and the appropriate written and road tests. If you pass these tests, you will receive your TVDL copy on the same day and mail your original TVDL in 1-2 weeks.




Instructions for using the Park Chicago app for parking

  1. Download and Install: Download the Park Chicago app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  2. Create an Account: Open the app and create a user account.  Then enter your personal information and payment details.
  3. Locate Parking Zone: Use the app to find your current location or search for a specific parking zone. Each zone is identified by a unique zone number displayed on nearby signs.
  4. Start Parking Session: Enter the zone number where you're parked into the app. Select the duration you wish to park.
  5. Confirm and Pay: Review the details of your parking session and confirm the payment method and authorize the transaction.
